World’s Oldest Pyramid Crumbles
Djoser’s pyramid is decaying. Time is taking it’s toll and some of the outer masonary has disappeared. Deep cracks have spread through the walls of the underground corridors. Egypt is spending millions of dollars on the preservation of the oldest pyramid in the world.
More monuments are being discovered all the time and this means that time and resources that could be spent on restoring existing monuments are be allocated to the clearing of the new finds.
Deep in the bowels of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo they are still sorting through old finds from a hundred years ago.
