Which Pyramid Would You Most Like to See Open?

41%2BUvdJESrL. SL210 Which Pyramid Would You Most Like to See Open? It’s always fun to have a bit of interaction and feedback from you, the readers of Talking Pyramids. A small part of this interactivity is the poll that appears on the right side, just below the Delicious Links.

The last poll asked what theory you favoured to explain the construction of the Great Pyramid. Among the choices were the traditional single straight ramp, the external spiral ramp and the concrete theory.

The most popular choice was Jean-Pierre’s Internal Spiral ramp theory.

Here are the results:

How Was the Great Pyramid Built?

  • Internal spiral ramp (28%, 35 Votes)
  • Other (27%, 34 Votes)
  • Long ramp (18%, 22 Votes)
  • External spiral ramp (18%, 22 Votes)
  • Herodotus' 'machines' (6%, 8 Votes)
  • It's made of cement! (3%, 4 Votes)

Total Voters: 125

Now, on to the next poll:

Which pyramid would you most like to see open?

It’s time for a new poll and this time I am asking what pyramid you’d most like to see opened next.

We’ve seen how there have long been plans to open some of the pyramids that are still closed and I’ve mentioned previously that Zahi Hawass has stated that he wanted to open all the pyramids by 2009. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. We’ve also seen how the declared dates of opening of the chambers of Sneferu’s ‘Bent’ pyramid and the ‘Black’ pyramid of Amenemhet III at Dahshur have been repeatedly pushed back and delayed.

Personally, I’d love to see the internal chambers of the Bent pyramid opened to the public so I have kicked off the poll by registering my interest in that pyramid.

  1. Just to be difficult -none of the above!
By far the most interesting pyramid would be the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum in China.

  2. Nice one Geoff, thinking outside of the…pyramid-shaped box.

Could the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum be called a true pyramid built from quarried stone? I thought it was made of dirt?

  3. Good point; but one man’s dirt is another man’s mud brick, well almost! [and there is allegedly some serious goodies in there].

Interesting poll; It turns out I actually voted with the majority, so far.

  4. *sigh I can’t make up my mind. I’d love to be able to see them all. Even what’s left of Djedefre’s pyramid on Abu Roash.

  5. Hi Miss Amanda,

Perhaps I should have included more pyramids in the poll. I’d love to visit Abu Roash one day too. Have you had a look at Djedefre’s pyramid page?
