Spices at the Aswan markets
Walking through the markets at Aswan you can see many different spices for sale. Often they are heaped into pyramid shaped mounds to more effectively show them off. I was always impressed by how they managed to get them to stand up like that.

Being the trading hub of the ancient world, many of these herbs & spices have been in use in Egypt since ancient times. Some native herbs to Egypt include: cumin, dill, fennel, fenugreek, mint, parsley, thyme, & marjoram. Others were imported from surrounding areas.
