Photo of the Week – Sarcophagus of Unas
This week’s photo shows the western end of the burial chamber of Unas.
The texts above the sarcophagus are considered the most important of all the texts in the pyramid of Unas. These are the only texts near the sarcophagus and contain many protective spells such as this one:
“Fall, O serpent which came forth from the earth!
Fall, O flame which came from the Abyss!
Fall down!
Crawl away!”
- Pyramid Texts, Spell 237
(Faulkner translation)
