Photo of the Week: Pyramid Texts of Teti
The Pyramid Texts that cover the walls of the pyramid of Unas are the most well known but several other pyramids were also elaborately inscribed with these important religious texts.
Teti, who came to power directly after Unas, also had the walls of his sarcophagus chamber, antechamber and last section of the horizontal passage covered with texts. Unfortunately the walls of Teti’s chambers are not as well preserved as those of Unas.
Though there are others, the main pyramids that contain the Pyramid Texts are Unas, Teti, Pepi I, Merenre, Pepi II, and Queen Neith. Translations of all of these have recently been published in a single book by James Allen & Peter Der Manuelian: ‘The Ancient Egyptian Pyramid Texts’
