Explore the Egyptian Pyramids Online

The Nova website has an interactive section on the Egyptian Pyramids which can be seen at a glance here.

There are several small 360 degree views in Quicktime VR such as the view from the top of Khufu’s pyramid as well as inside.

A bit of background and introduction to the pyramids here: Ancient Egyptian Pyramids.

Or you can Follow the Excavation around the pyramids and read an interview with Mark Lehner.

You can also Explore the Pyramids where you can read about the history of Giza or the scale and size of the pyramids.

Exploring Khufu's Pyramid

Enter & explore Khufu’s pyramid.

Here, you can crawl through Khufu’s narrow passageways and navigate your way, as the pharaohs did, to the King’s burial chamber.

A “hand” cursor in a QTVR movie indicates a clickable link to the appropriate next page and QTVR file. Otherwise, navigate via the text links below the QTVR windows.

Start in the Descending Passage and venture down to the Unfinished Chamber or up to the Ascending Passage, the Grand Gallery, and the Queen’s and King’s Chambers. Think you see daylight at the top of a passage? That’s the exit, and this movie stays inside the pyramid.

* You’ll need to download and install the QuickTime plugin if you don’t already have it.
