Make a Paper Model of the Great Pyramid

Here’s a practical exercise for you to do at home. A great weekend activity for the kids. I remember when I was about five my Dad helped me make a model pyramid out of paper. I’ve got a few different methods of making a paper pyramid for you. Click on each of the images for the print outs and more information.

The first method is the most simple and produces a pyramid with the same proportions as the Great Pyramid of Giza:

Here is a template that I have prepared for you. Simply download (right-click, save as), print and then cut out. Fold the triangles in so that the hieroglyphs are on the outside. Put a strip of sticky tape along one side of each of the four triangles, on the back of the triangles so that as you fold it together the sticky tape sticks the sides together from the inside.

And here is one I prepared earlier:

The second is from DLTK and provides an easy way to build an authentic looking model of a pyramid from paper, glue and some sand:

The next one is from Canon’s Creative Park and produces a very elaborate model of the pyramid that even shows the internal chamber system. Just print out the model and cut & fold:

Download another template of the Great Pyramid from Delta7 Studios. Again, just download the PDF, then print, cut & fold:

Can you reproduce this pyramid-like figure just by cutting and folding a single piece of rectangular strong paper? (you cannot cut the paper into two or more different piece):
