Khufu’s Second Solar Boat to be Displayed
Khufu's first solar boat.
Three years later in 1957 another solar boat was found but the pit was closed shortly after it’s discovery. In the mid 1990′s the pit was reopened by the Waseda University team to eradicate insects that had entered the pit at that time.
Now, with help again from Waseda University, the SCA will insert a camera into the pit so that visitors to the Giza plateau will be able to view the second boat for the first time via a large screen located in the solar boat museum.
More information including plans, diary entries, photos and interactive 360 panoramas can be viewed at the Giza Archives website.
