Hieroglyphic Dictionary for the iPhone
This probably seems a bit like a commercial for the iPhone but when I saw this I couldn’t resist posting it here. It’s an iPhone app that would be really useful for anyone studying the ancient Egyptian language.
From the developer’s website:
English and French dictionary, Aaou is a hieroglyph dictionary, which currently contains more than 10500 words. It is useful to find the most frequent words. Other words will be added in future versions (collaboration by email welcome). You can search by hieroglyphs, transliteration or translation.
Search by hieroglyphs:
It does not depend on the order of the hieroglyphs. Select a hieroglyph in the list on the left (alphabet, A man and his occupation, B woman and her occupation etc.). Insert the selected hieroglyph with + button which take a few seconds. Add other hieroglyph by the same manner. You can remove a hieroglyph with the – button. The number of matching words is displayed on the screen top left.
Visit the developer’s website to learn more and a link to the iTunes Store where you can purchase the app if you like: Aaou Hieroglyph Dictionary
