Friday Photo: King of Upper and Lower Egypt
These beautifuly detailed hieroglyphs of the bee and the sedge are the words nesu-bity. These same symbols were used in the title “King of Upper and Lower Egypt”, the sedge plant being the symbol of Upper Egypt, while the bee is the symbol of Lower Egypt. These words often appear before the throne name of the king, and is why it is also referred to as his “prenomen”.
