Excavations at Menkaure’s Pyramid

Over the past few days I’ve been in contact with Todd who is currently in Cairo. Although it is difficult to get around to the back of Menkaure’s pyramid Todd has managed to take a photograph of some excavations currently underway on the east side of Menkaure’s pyramid on the Giza Plateau.

Readers will remember February’s serendipetus discovery of a life-sized statue in front of Menkaure’s pyramid during routine cleaning. Considering that this Old Kingdom statue was found under just 40cm of sand I have to wonder what these heavy earth moving vehicles might accidentally uncover.

If anyone has any information on this excavation please comment below or email me privately by clicking on my photo on the right.
