News of a another death this week with the director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Thomas Hoving. Hoving was responsible for reinventing the museum, including a major reinstallation of it’s Egyptian wing. He was 78.

Join us for this exclusive event featuring a behind-the-scenes look at two special exhibitions—To Live Forever: Art and the Afterlife in Ancient Egypt and Body Parts: Ancient Egyptian Fragments and Amulets—as well as the long-term installation Egypt Reborn: Art for Eternity.

The evening includes a relaxing wine reception, gallery talks, educator-led activities, and the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the city. Attendees will receive free teaching materials, Museum passes, and a 10% discount in the Museum Shop.

Egypt asks the British Museum for the return of the Rosetta Stone and in other news France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy handed his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak one of five “steles” that were chipped off a wall painting in the 18th dynasty tomb of Tetiky.
