“We said we would build and here we have built the high dam. Oh colonialism, we have built it with our hands, the high dam. With our money, with the hands of our workers,” Abdel Halim’s chorus enthusiastically repeated.

There are some more photos of the recent discovery of the workers’ tombs on the Giza plateau. The Ancient World Bloggers Group reports on the Giza Archives Project at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and gives the most recent list of all books and articles in the Giza Library inventory.

James Henry Breasted also features in today’s news with a new exhibit at the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute, “Pioneers to the Past: American Archaeologists in the Middle East, 1919-20.” The exhibit opens Jan. 12 and runs through August. The Oriental Institute details the book “Pioneer to the Past: The Story of James Henry Breasted, Archaeologist, Told by His Son Charles Breasted.”
